There's Something to be said for Taking Time Out
There’s something to be said for taking time out!
I haven’t had a holiday of any sort since 2021 and realized late last year I was feeling weary. Thankfully we had already booked a family holiday for February but I really didn’t think a week would be long enough.
We took a cruise to the South Pacific and whilst I wouldn’t call myself a ‘Cruiseling’ yet, it certainly had its advantages. Just being with my family, no chores, no phones, no internet, no responsibility. It just allowed my brain and nervous system to wind down – to remember how to stop.

Thankfully we had a balcony room so sitting on the balcony, watching the endless water, was a fabulous way to stop. And what luck! There was a glorious full moon to enjoy and we were on the best side of the ship to watch it rise each night! So blest!

And yes, we had a variety of towel-folded animals inhabiting our suite each day!!

The highlight for myself and my children had to be Mystery Island. It is the quintessential uninhabited tropical island. As I walked onto the beach, I found myself taking HUGH breaths in and just releasing all the stress and energy on my out-breaths. AHHHHH!!! I’m sure some nearby folk wondered what all the sighing was about!
I walked into the water, which was seriously, crystal clear! It was such a perfect temperature. I just floated… and floated… and floated. I felt the water washing over me - taking away all the stress. I found tears in my eyes at the divine, restful beauty of it all.
I felt it was a day of deep re-set for me. Releasing stored energy from disappointments, arguments, anger and sadness, and absorbing the healing magic of sea and sun.
That day reinforced that nature holds the best healing. We just have to allow time to visit the beach, walk in the forest, float in a river. Let nature help us to reset and relax.
I wonder where your favourite place in nature is…
